What is a String Quartet?

A string quartet is a group of four people playing string instruments;
two violins, a viola and a cello.

Violin
A stringed musical instrument of treble pitch,
having four strings and a body narrowed
at the middle and with two f-shaped soundholes,
played with a horsehair bow.
Viola
An instrument of the violin family,
larger than the violin and tuned a fifth lower.
Cello
A bass instrument of the violin family,
held upright on the floor
between the legs of the seated player.
